GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Spring Arbor University produced three All-American finishes on the final day of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships held at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center at Celebration Pointe in Gainesville, Florida.
The distance medley relay team, consisting of Jacob Singleton, Caden Kyser, Camden Khon and Dean Reynolds, finished third with a school record time 9:52.25.
In addition to their podium finish in the DMR, Khon and Reynolds also secured All-American honors individually in the in the mile and 800 meters, respectively. Khon placed fourth in the mile with a time of 4:10.17 and Reynolds came in sixth in the 800 meters with a personal-best time 1:52.11 – the third-best performance in the event in SAU history.
Spring Arbor also competed in the men's 4x800 meter relay. The team of Kalyb VanWormer, Benjamin Schefka, Howard Teed and Cooper Singleton finished 18th overall with a time of 7:48.87, which ranks as the third-best mark in program history.
On the women's side, Tanana Emmendorfer competed in the 400 meters. The freshman advanced to the event final after running a school record time of 56.29 in the Friday's prelim. However, she was disqualified in Saturday's race for running on the line.
The men's team title went to Marian University, which finished with 74 total points. The University of the Cumberlands followed with 64.
Cumberlands claimed the women's team championship with 58 points. Doane University finished runner-up with 48.
The meet signaled the end of the indoor season. The Cougars will begin their outdoor campaign on Mar. 21-22 at the Lee University Invitational in Cleveland, Tennessee and the Indiana Wesleyan University Polar Bear Classic in Marion, Indiana.
